Turtle Disappearance

She has never just disappeared like that before! I thought 7 months of love was gone to die somewhere and be found by smell.

I think my problem was because I moved back with my parents and was trying to make the filter quieter. The more water you put in, the less height the water has to fall, so the quieter it is. I filled pretty high, and moved the floating rock up so it would be even with the water instead of all lop-sided. So, not doing that again. But I did fix my noise problem!

I cut a water bottle and tried putting it against the falling water with tape, but that didn't work too well. Finally after trying a lot of different things I finally got a string to suspend the plastic close enough to do something. It still makes a little noise, but is greatly reduced!

Turtle get's a plecostomus friend

Room mate bought a pleco to be friends with Jo, and to maybe eat the building algae I'll probably be too lazy to ever clean. Though, I've never actually seen and algae eater actually do it's job...

I was kind of worried the turtle may try and eat it, because she nips at anything that look interesting, and she did try to nip at him during his 30 minute equalization period.

Though she seemed to get bored of it by the time it actually got into the aquarium.

What ev's....
...No clue how to actually spell out "whateve's" ...only how the say it....anyways...

Turtle's multiple rocky failures

I feed my turtle by hand, but she seemed nervous to get on her basking rock while I'm near. Usually when I walk by and she is on her rock, she jumps into the water. She seemed eager though so I thought I'd try feeding her on the rock, I didn't know she would fail so many times.

I have a turtle. Her name is Jo, but she doesn't know that.

So I got a cute little turtle from a $1.09 store from some foreigners for $20 that was "A special price for you only, today!". It included food and one of those tiny plastic terrariums with a little happy plastic palm tree that some turtle breeders refer to as "the plastic death box"  for it is much too small and most baby turtles bought on a whim die in those.

She looks like so:

I named her Jo Ann, but no one calls her that including me because turtle is much easier and "hey turtle!" sounds more fun than "hey jo!" ....I think... this is just a random theory of mine as to why we don't call her by her name. Anyways here is my roommate dropping her on the floor like the dick he is:

She is okay from that fall, luckily her shell protected her, because it's been 2 months from now and she seems okay. Here's a video of her eating some lettuce with my terrible narration:

As you can see, her tank got much more pimped. It's quite nice...though when I was rinsing all of the aquarium rocks to get the dust off of them, I got some in the garbage disposal because I'm dumb and didn't think to put the cover on it. Then a few days later I turned on the disposal and it worked...and then just stopped, which reminded me about the rocks that fell down the drain.... any tips on how to get aquarium rocks unstuck from a garbage disposal?

Do you like electric rainbow jellyfish?

I ask because I saw some recently and took this video:

UPDATE! on 9/5/2012

So I'm addicted to watching BBC's "Planet Earth", "Frozen Planet", and "Life" series and David Attenborough (whose name  spelled correct on the first try) was so kind as to educate me that these sea gooseberries have "beating cilia that scatter the sun's rays into dazzling bursts of color", which looks really awesome close up.

Of course, this video makes mine look terrible....
